To Bear Creek (Aug. 29).

Gaspar de Portolá
The 2nd, we proceeded for four hours over the road by which we had come and made the same distance as on the outward journey.

Miguel Costansó
From the Baile de las Indias we marched to the Cañada Seca, taking the precaution to carry some water from the Río de San Verardo, where we did not stop because this is a place without fire-wood; the distance is three leagues.

Fray Juan Crespi
From this place we set out in the morning and in passing got a supply of water from the large river of San Bernardo, alias Santa Rosa, in the knowledge that in the Canada Seca, where we arrived after three leagues travel, there was none.

January 1 To San Antonio Creek (Aug. 31).
January 3 To Rocky Point.
