The scouts, who had set out early in the morning, returned at one o'clock in the afternoon with news of having found water, and a good road along the beach at low tide. To avail ourselves of this circumstance it was necessary to defer the march until the following morning; the people and animals, therefore, rested at this place.

On this day we rested, in order to give the explorers time to go out. From this place we made out two islands, a small one to the south and a large one to the southeast.
