David Mercurio began his Pop Warner football administrative career when he joined the Pacifica Tigersharks Pop Warner Football and Cheer program as a board member and football coach in 1996. Today, he serves as President of the organization, having been appointed to that position in 2003. His selection was timely as the organization was looking for a person to get the program back on its feet, having gone through a period of possibly folding due to lack of participation. At the time of his new role, the Tigersharks fielded only two teams. Dave literally revamped and rejuvenated the program. Dave has dedicated 20 years of his life to Pop Warner, the first 17 in which he did not have a child in the program. Dave himself played Pop Warner as a youngster. Dave is a 1992 graduate of Oceana High School, where he was a three-sport athlete. He was recently honored as the Pop Warner Pacific Northwest Regional and National Volunteer of the year and was inducted into the Pop Warner Hall of Fame this month (February). He lives in Pacifica.
